We Live Our Unfinished Adventures

The New Long Kang

June 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’m building a new Long Kang with Kaifeng. I hope this one will turn out fun. It’s a race course with water and obstacles. Giving me a real headache.

The joints are pretty superb. I guess I really have a knack for building things.

Great Adventures In Melbourne II (Great Food!)

June 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I really miss the pizzas. Not all on the menu were to our tastes, we tried some which were really yucky, but we soon narrowed down to a couple which were the Caesar and Salmon pizzas. Really filling, we can have one for lunch, and pretty much have nothing until dinner. Taste really excellent. My sister had recommended to me about Bimbo Deluxe (she lived with her husband and son in Australia for a year), I must say that it’s good!

Kishan also recommended to us the Souvlaki, he called it the BEST FOOD IN THE WORLD. It is a kind of popular Greek fast food. A meat wrap with vegetables and a strong garlic sauce. We had our bites at Souvlaki King which was on Brunswick Street. It’s the best in Melbourne according to web sources. It’s around AU$8 for one, we had it only once because of our tight budget.

Even if it is not within the promotional times, prices are still economical and there are also some discounts.

My favourite Caesar Pizza!

Great Adventures In Melbourne I (The Streets)

June 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Choon Lin and I are back from Melbourne. We had an artist-residency at Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces. It’s really a nice experience to be there. The artspace is located on Gertrude Street between Brunswick and Smith Street in Fitzroy. They call the place, “The Arts and Fashion Precinct”, so you do see many artist-run initiatives (ARIs) and commercial galleries in the area. People are really well-dressed and in style.

Here are some photos from the trip. I should have posted them while I was there, little by little. Guess I was watching too much TV. We were watching many documentaries and worst-serial-killers kind of crime-shows on most evenings. We were really into it.

This was taken along Brunswick Street.

They sure know how to DIY and decorate their shops. One of the things we enjoyed looking.

This is Bimbo Deluxe. The cheapest pizzas in town, only from AU$4! We ate it a lot and it is really tasty too. Much better and cheaper than Canadian’s Pizza in Singapore. Love their BABY.

Manfax, a paint shop near the studio. High quality paints, but really expensive for us. Most materials are costly here, probably about 50% higher.

Anyway, Choon Lin collected many of such strange images, characters, mascots from these streets nearby and she made a really cool animation with them. All in less than two weeks. The animation will continue to be worked on in Singapore.
